Turmeric Tea “Golden Milk”

In my house, when a cold hits, we always make ourselves some golden milk.
Golden milk or turmeric tea has beneficial properties which helps to boost immune function and aids in digestion.

Some facts on turmeric:

  • Turmeric contains curcumin, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
  • Chronic inflammation is known to be a contributor to many common Western diseases. Curcumin can inhibit many molecules known to play major roles in inflammation.
  • Curcumin has powerful antioxidant effects. It neutralizes free radicals on its own, then stimulates the body’s own antioxidant enzymes.
  • Curcumin has beneficial effects on several factors known to play a role in heart disease. It is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and antioxidant.

Tip: Adding in black pepper to your golden milk will help your body to absorb turmeric better.

Turmeric Tea “Golden Milk”

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup organic coconut milk
  • 1 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. raw honey optional
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger grated
  • pinch cayenne pepper
  • pinch ground black pepper
  • water to thin

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients into a sauce pan and heat on medium for 3 minutes.
  • Drink immediately and enjoy!
