Warm Sweet Potato and Pear Smoothie

Smoothies are the perfect blend of satisfying nutrients to fill you up when you’re working out or needing a 3 p.m. snack. But when the weather turns cold, do you really want to be sipping on an ice-cold drink?

I shared some tips on my Instagram stories on how you can still enjoy smoothies in the cooler months.

1. Add warming spices: cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, cloves, allspice

2. Add in seasonal vegetables like pumpkin, squash or sweet potato

3. Warm your smoothie on the stovetop

All of these tips are great for digestion too!

Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sweet potato baked, skin removed
  • 1/2 cup pear puree
  • 1/2 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • pinch ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. almond butter
  • 1 tsp. hemp hearts
  • 1 scoop collagen powder

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients into a high-speed blender until smooth.

Notes

* I like to keep baked sweet potato on hand for various dishes and sides.
* I make my own pureed pear by simply peeling and de-coring pears and then lightly steaming them. Then place in a blender until smooth.
